Windmills were essential to the entire village - devoted to the task of grinding the villager's wheat into flour. Many place the Miller next to the Windmill, or show the Miller on the Donkey carrying a bag of flour from the Windmill to the village. The Windmill of Alphonse Daudet is of historical interest - Built in 1815 and in use until World War I. It was restored in 1935 the Friends of Daudet, who created a museum nearby dedicated to Daudet's Letters of My Windmill.
