"A true heavyweight is returning to the collection in 2026: the elephant, designed by Olly Sommer (later Wendt) in 1926. Historical catalog illustrations and samples of a smaller version served by templates for bringing the elephant back into production after 90 years in the design archives. Every detail - from head to toe and from the tip of its trunk to the tip of its tail - had to be scrutinized. Some body parts proved particularly challenging: For the trunk, we had to figure out how to achieve its gentle curve; the slender tusks required a suitable material that would accommodate their slight bend; and for the elephant's tail, the right solution simply proved elusive at first. One thing is certain: All the effort and puzzling were worth it! The result is a lovable pachyderm, perfect fo bringing joy to youself or others on many different occasions." - WK
