This peasant man brings to the stable a big, wicker-covered, glass demi-john of mulled wine on his shoulders. Vin cuit is a special sweet local red wine made of grape juice that has been cooked prior to fermentation. It is traditionally served on festive occasions and is one of the 13 Christmas desserts (representing the 12 apostles and Christ) celebrated in Provence.
