"Ready, Set, Sled! As soon as the first snow falls, a magical time begins for many children - and fittingly, Grete Wendt designed a cheerful group of sledding children. As the group is reissued, a boy is the first to return. Designed by the company's founder before 1933, he sledded his way through the collection until 1953. After more than 70 years off the slopes in Wendt and Kuhn's historic archive of samples, the figurine will return this October to spread winter cheer once again. Thick boots, mittens, a woolen hat, and a scarf fluttering in the wind keep him warm as he races downhill. To ensure that the boy sits securely and snugly on the sled, his pants are milled "to fit" during production. The jacket's gracefully shaped "peplum" and the winter boots with their carefully placed saw cuts are the result of numerous steps in our workshops. The Boy on Sled makes a delightful gift for sledding enthusiasts young and old - and indeed for anyone who loves the snowy season. And because sledding is even more fun with company, a Girl on Sled will add to the wintertime fun next year." - WK
