Wendt and Kühn Angel Musician with Two-Tone Block / New for 2020
For 2020 Wendt and Kühn has introduced the Angel Musician with Two-Tone Block.
The Two-Tone block is a percussion instrument made of wood, usually teak.
Two-tone blocks became known through early jazz music. It is an instrument that produces its sound through the use of the material from which it is made, without needing strings or a stretched skin. Composers have used two-tone blocks to imitate a variety of effects from horses' hooves to a dripping tap and a ticking clock.

WENDT & KÜHN ELEGANT LIMITED EDITION MADONNAS WITH CHILD INTRODUCED IN 2020
Wendt and Kühn has introduced two exquisite Limited Edition Madonnas with Child.
These figurines are masterpieces made exclusively to order. They are available by SPECIAL ORDER (see the details below) and are 16-1/2" tall. Each year Wendt and Kühn will create only 100 pieces. The label on the underside of the base will show its number out of 100 together with the year it was made. My Growing Traditions is offering them at a savings of $300.00.
The two Madonnas offered are very different in appearance. While the Madonna in the dark-blue richly painted dress exudes elegance, the one with the pale-blue robe touches us with her gentle demeanor. Regardless of which version you choose, the skill and artistry that has gone into their painting means these impressive large figurines represent the master craftsmanship of the Wendt and Kühn workshops like no others.

Each extraordinary Madonna will be produced exclusively to order, one by one. These pieces require a very high degree of craftsmanship from the skilled craftsmen and women at the Wendt and Kuehn workshops.
A $750.00 non-refundable deposit will be required. Once ordered this item cannot be canceled, it is limited to 100 pieces per year and if not available it will come the next year. In placing your order you agree to wait for delivery.

It is not known whether Grete Wendt was interested in the Virgin Mary in a religious sense or if she took a more humanistic view of the Madonna as a depiction of a mother and child. What we do know is that she was very taken with a particular painting of the Madonna, the “The Virgin and Child with a Pear”
by Albrecht Dürer (1471-1528), a German painter. A reproduction of this work hung on the wall of her living room.
In the coming years Wendt and Kühn intends to select with great care, and at regular intervals, a number of genuine treasures from their extraordinary treasure trove of designs.
Deer with Flower Child / Emil Helbig 85th Anniversary Jubilee Figure
We are privileged to offer a limited stock of this very special figure offered by the Helbig workshop in honor of their 85th Anniversary - the Jubilee Figure was created only in 2019.
In a wood chip box and on a wood base the flower child leads the Deer through the countryside.
4" tall by 5-3/4" wide.
The deer has a bell around his neck and carries two packsacks of flowers.
Hand-carved. Hand-painted.
Created in the Erzgebirge, Germany.
Each box is numbered. And we are fortunate to have ones that are in the teens and 20s.

Little Red Riding Hood is on her way to her Grandmother's house, bringing her a lovely basket of cake, something special to drink, and some beautiful flowers.
Yes, she is a truly favorite fairy tale known to all of us - yet, at the same time bringing good cheer, she makes a delightful addition to any special occasion.
She is new in 2019, stands 2" tall, and comes with a Wendt and Kühn Presentation / Gift Box.
Grete Wendt loved the world of fairy tales and used her fascination for them to create a whole series of delightful figurines. One of them is Little Red Riding Hood and a companion piece of the Big Bad Wolf.
Other names for the story are: "Little Red Riding hood," "Little Red Cap," or simply "Red Riding Hood."
"Little Red Riding Hood is a European fairy tale whose origins can be traced back to the 10th century to several European folk tales. One of the best known versions was written by the Brothers Grimm.
Little Red Riding Hood is named after her red hooded cape/cloak. She walks through the woods to deliver food to her sickly grandmother (wine and cake depending on the translation). In the Grimms' version, her mother had ordered her to stay strictly on the path.
The Big Bad Wolf wants to eat her and the food in the basket. He secretly stalks her behind trees, bushes, shrubs, and patches of little and tall grass. He approaches Little Red Riding Hood, who naively tells him where she is going. He suggests that the girl pick some flowers as a present for her grandmother, which she does. In the meantime, he goes to the grandmother's house and gains entry by pretending to be the girl. He swallows the grandmother whole (in some stories, he locks her in the closet) and waits for the girl, disguised as the grandma.
In the Grimm's German version a hunter comes to the rescue with an axe, and cuts open the sleeping wolf. Little Red Riding Hood and her grandmother emerge unharmed. They fill the wolf's body with heavy stones. The wolf awakens and attempts to flee, but the stones cause him to collapse and die." - Wikipedia
Beginning in 2017 and over the next few years Wendt and Kühn will release a new fairy tale figurine every fall to add to the joy. Cinderella is the first in the series, Star Magic - the Sterntaler Girl - is the second, and Red Riding Hood is the third.

Brück and Sohn Advent Calendars - European Cities and More - Limited Supplies Available
Brück and Sohn (Printers in Meissen, Germany 1793-2018) celebrate European cities and culture with their exquisite Advent Calendars. After honoring their 225th anniversary in October 2018, the 7th generation, Annette and Helmut Brück, retired, closing their doors. An era has come to an end.
My Growing Traditions has scavenged where we could and replenished our inventory in hopes of being able to make them available to you as long as possible. We do have limited supplies available.
